Art was born Arthur Fennell on January 10, 1961, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, United States. He was raised with his twelve siblings.
He completed his primary schooling at a local school and attended South Carolina State University to complete his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication and Media Studies.
Career
After completing his graduation, Arthur went on to pursue his journalism career. He started his career as a radio broadcaster in South Carolina.
He worked at the South Carolina Educational Television Network in on-air positions. For ten years, from 1990 to 2000, he worked as an anchor and news reporter at WCAU NBC-10 in Pennsylvania.
After leaving NBC-10, he joined the Comcast/NBC Universal network in 2001 and served as a Principal News Anchor, Host, Managing Editor, and Executive Producer until 2014.
At Comcast network, he hosted late-night newscasts from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. He also worked for TV-One, covering Michael Jackson’s memorial from Los Angeles.
He also covered the 2008 Election Night, the inauguration of President Barack Obama, and taught as a communication professor at Delaware State University.
Since 2007, he has been a self-employed Television Journalist and Multi-Media Executive delivering broadcast content, freelance travel writing, documentary films, and still photography as a side gig.
